I'm an Automotive engineer with experience working on 4x4s, cars, ATVs and Motorcycles. I was an Automotive Lecturer for Unitec in Auckland, NZ. I initially started uploading workshop task type videos for my students to use as part of their 'e-learning' aspects of the course, giving them 24/7 access to some really useful information.
I run my own small workshop too and actively undertake a wide range of workshop jobs. The content of the channel has grown due to requests and the various repair jobs that come in. Presently I see the channel developing to becoming a useful resource for students, DIY mechanics and just about anyone who fixes, tinkers or generally is keen to have a go and fix their own vehicles...

Old tools from the UK - Box two #2128
Переглядів 7243 дні тому
The second box of tools salvaged from the UK, it's been 15 years since these tools were packed in haste. I really have no idea which of my hand tools Ben managed to pack before we left the UK & the boxes have been buried at the back of one of our storage sheds ever since. I have been waiting a long time to open these boxes up & I'm sure the tools inside will bring back many memories.... Enjoy A...

Old tools from the UK- Box one #2127
Переглядів 63510 днів тому
During the process of building Ben's new workshop we were forced to empty our 'silver' shed of it's entire contents so it could be relocated. Hidden right at the back were 5 dusty steel ammo boxes from the UK - boxes that contained the majority of the hand tools we managed to gather together when we left for New Zealand - under the circumstances we didn't have much time to pack. As a result muc...

Murex welder wire feed diagnostic & repair #1492
Переглядів 57429 днів тому
So my trusty Murex Mig welder developed a fault, the wire speed began difficult to set & sometimes speeded up or slowed down without any movement of the dial - most odd. Let's take a look & see what the issue is.... Enjoy Andy Thanks for watching, producing these videos does cost a great deal of time & some money too. Hello Andy at what time you will start live session
8.30am NZ time :-)
My very first mig welder was a three phase murex 180, the best welder I ever owned, got that in 81. I purchased a Migatronic in the early 90's as I needed to be able to weld at 300 amps continuous on a job I had at the time and for some reason gave the murex to my brother in law who ran it for several more years then threw it into a skip when one of the diodes blew out. I told him the diodes were replaceable but by that time the skip had been collected from his works, I still have the manual and circuit diagram from that Murex some where in my collection. There should be continuity between the two outer pins on the pot. but it wont show on the continuity setting on the meter as it will be the ten K of that particular pot. Prise the black cap off the red knob and there is a nut that clamps the knob to the shaft, the shaft is not supposed to come away like it did. I always blow the dust out of my welders once a year, do the computers as well.
Great, I thought I was going senile and had forgotten it was so awkward. This has restored my faith in my ability.
Any 😂snap on tools have a lifetime warranty for the small yellow screwdriver 🪛 thank you for sharing your wonderful tools
Treasure!
behind every damaged screwdriver . is a story of a man that having a bad day lol
Never a truer word said! 😆
Isn't the body panel tool called a 'joggler'? Sad to see that stubby screwdriver so idly dismissed. I have three, one with flats on the handle so you can fit a spanner on. Known as Mr. Stubby he's helped me out no end of times.😁
I have no idea but it is now! Lol
same pair of snips i have
Nice, look after them well my friend. Cheers Andy
Re-watching your renovation videos also helps when people message you about certain details, years after you've put them up.
Good idea 💡
What is the wall thickness of the square tubing for the axle?
or "box section" as you call it?
6mm
Awesome job . Thank you .
Hi Andy, couldnt catch the stream yesterday listened today. How's the Ranger going, did it do a DPF burn off. Interested to know as I have a Ranger too. Kev
Hi Kev, yep, all going to plan, in Nelson tonight, ferry Wednesday, greytown Wednesday night then home via Dannevirke, Napier & Taupo. Ranger cleared the code after another 1,200km, all good now. Dash said keep driving....so I did! Lol
Lol....have a safe trip
Mine has been acting up super bad and it reads 6.0kohms and it’s supposed be at 4.4 according to manual does that mean I have to change it?
Yes, definately
Great video. I like that its not rushed.
Can you sharpen a 2mm bit ? Takes a good eye. Been doing it for 20 years.
One that small is of a gamble for me using the bench grinder though I habe had some success, I think that size would be too small for this tool. Cheers Andy
Can you give me any advice on where I can get the mounting bolts for the brake calipers
You could order genuine ones on line, there will be plenty of Suzuki dealers that will ship the parts to you, though I guess thus depends where in the World you are? Cheers Andy
if anything the big sockets will do for pressing bearings in
Looks like my socket box of misc tools 😂
Hello mister Andy I would like you to return a workshop for maitenance duty we can lurne so much
Men at work.
Andy you can get your gedore socket replaced it comes with a lifetime warranty
I'll try that, Thanks 😀
Where did you get the f6a service manual from thats the one i need
Sure is going to take some time to sort out all those tools, but it is like Christmas time with all the nice surprises waiting in the amo boxes. You can never have too many tools. Cheers Andy.
Thanks - much prefer this style of video.
Andy, what happened to the Myford lathe you started to do up. did you give up on it!
My old best mates Dad used to work at Myfords in Beeston , Notts. Great British manufacturer back in the day. 🇬🇧👍
No, not at all, just got put on hold. All stripped, most replacement parts now in hand. Plan to do the rebuild next year all going to plan :-) Apologies for the long delay, just so many other projects had to get done with a deadline. Cheers Andy
Never throw away any tools, worn out impact sockets can be used to press out bearings etc for example.
Great call, yes, can certainly be re-purposed - I hate throwing things away, no wonder I struggle for storage space! Cheers Andy
Andy, you're the boss... the first of your videos I ever watched taught me how to fully service my mazda demio. Cheers, bud. I've been subscribed ever since.
Thanks Kenrick, appreciate your support. It seems so long ago now that I started the channel, been quite a journey & still so much to do but it's great to see the videos helping so many people. All the best Andy
Great video. Here, the light never goes out. Have 12v on red and the wiring is to simple to wrong. Any tip? Tkss
You must have a connection through the points even when they are open. Check the insulator where the wire connects that's usually the fault. Cheers Andy
What year is that bike? I was told that these later oil in frame models share engine and primary oil. (Which is why I use the same oil in each on my 78 T140.) You can see the three small holes in the case just above the primary chain adjuster and below the stud that holds on the alternator...they're to the right of the sprockets if you pause at 1:18:29 From what I understand, those 3 holes let engine oil into the primary. I'm not sure how it keeps the level it needs.
Yes de Melgar tol
Nice one Andy great spot , cheers , shaneo, Nelson, 🍺👍
Tx mate. Had to replace my favourite extension cord plug. Now I deserve a beer! Cheers.
Awesome video Andy😊
Thanks Brian, appreciate the feedback. All the best Andy
try black bear pass you WILL need 4 wheel drive and balls of steel
Lol, looks awesome shame it's a bit far to go for me! Cheers Andy
Circuit boards could be repaired instead of buying
Awesome my friend
even the sand blaster is smiling
Xenas hot
That 4 wheel fire car was a Tyrrell as in Ken’s designs It was sunny and warm today at the races
a good idea to file grub screw marks burs and damages on shaft. before driving the shaft threw the bearings.
Happy fathers day andy
👍👍👍👍
I welded my mower handle two months later it broke again an inch above the weld
